The former Ms. Phillips has gotten married!  Mrs. Tirey is a Wake Forest grad who is pursuing her Master’s Degree at Kennesaw.  She is bright, energetic and creative.  She is able to get the children to think in new ways by applying Kindergarten concepts on a global level.   She has a love of music, speaks French, and loves to cook.  In addition to teaching Kindergarten, Mrs. Tirey teaches our Creative Writing Lab.  
 
1st Grade-Mrs. Elizabeth Reid

Mrs. Reid has a Bachelor Degree from UGA in Psychology and Spanish, plus 30 hours in education.  She has 15 years of teaching experience.  Mrs. Reid has an organized approach to her classroom so that the children can learn responsibility for their assignments and accountability for their self-governance.  She is creative and fun as both a first grade teacher and our Spanish teacher.  She is married to Elton and has 3 children, 2 of whom attend Open Arms.

Ms. Johnson has 10 years experience in elementary education.  This is her fourth year at Rivercliff.  She employs a calm atmosphere, is resourceful, dedicated, and nurturing. She provides a classroom where the children are not bound to just workbooks and worksheets.  She has her students doing projects based on books, science, and other themes.  The students are able, literally, to get into their work to learn on a deeper level.  They are given the opportunity to express that knowledge in a creative fashion.   
 
3rd Grade- Ms. Rebecca Matson

Ms. Rebecca Matson graduated in 2002 from Concordia-Wisconsin with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  She moved from Ann Arbor, MI, and will be starting her second year of teaching with us.  Becky brings energy to her students and likes to have a visually interesting classroom based on thematic units with centers for extra learning opportunities.  She is a “see a need, fill the need” type. She has taught VBS, directed musicals and dramas, and helped build Habitat for Humanity homes. Becky will be serving as our Physical Education teacher as well.
