Young Adult Ministry hosts a Theology Pub Crawl

What’s a Theology Pub Crawl?

Over the course of the summer we will travel to different pubs for a casual place to gather and discuss theology. We will meet every other week and will go to a different pub and have a different topic.

Why at a pub?

A pub is a less intimidating atmosphere than a private home, or even a church might be for a visitor or a non-Lutheran/non-Christian. A newcomer is more likely to feel like dropping in at a public place rather than a private home. Pubs will be selected based on the atmosphere they provide so that it is conducive to small group discussions.

How can I get more information?

Stay tuned by visiting the Rivercliff Church website under Ministries- Young Adults and watch for fliers in your mail and at church. Also visit our facebook page for Rivercliff Young Adults.

Also view our page on Facebook for direct links to the pubs we will visit!

*Participating churches and group members may download a copy of the poster (above) using the link below.

The YUTS along with three other LCMS churches will be working in the North Carolina mountains this summer, doing outreach through home repair to those in need.  Through hard work and diligent fund raising, and contributions by Thrivent Financial, the youth of Rivercliff have raised sufficient monies to fund their mission trip for 2009.  Great job!  Please join in wishing them a successful trip, pray for their safety and that hearts would be opened to hear the truth of the gospel.  We will be posting pictures and blogs from the work site during the trip, June 21-27th.  Thank you for your support Rivercliff!

Easter morning breakfast, sponsored by the YUTS was once again a roaring success!  Thank you to all the support we had from parents, friends and family.  We were able to raise $1266 for our summer mission trip!  Don’t these faces make you smile?

April 17th and 18th ten of the YUTS Acquired The Fire (ATF) at an event sponsored by Teen Mania held in SE Atlanta.  We spent the evening on Friday, and all day Saturday until about 9pm, talking and learning about Christ’s life, love, and interaction with his disciples; Christ’s sacrifice and what it demands of their lives, how to maintain pure relationships, making God’s word a lifeline for their own life and what it really means to honor their parents.   The YUTS came back saying they had experienced a life changing event!  Now that is high praise indeed.  Any time we can take our youth, and their friends to events that are geared specifically to them, their hearts and issues, it is a good investment in their future and ours.

Sunday Mornings 9:35am

High School Youth Study: “The DaVinci Code” led by Michael Coleman.  This new Bible study for confirmed YUTS will be taught Sundays for the Spring quarter. The purpose of this study is to discuss spiritual topics within our senior youth group ased around the movie and book, "The DaVinci Code". It's an opportunity to express what we believe and prepare us to engage in conversations of substance with others who may be seekers or non-beleivers.

Junior High Youth Study: "Comparison of the Cults"  led by Keith Dunn & Judy Lagerbloom.  The student who sits next to you in middle school just told you that she is a Jehovah's Witness. Do you know what that means? Do you know what to say? Do you know how to counter her arguments and share with her the saving grace of Jesus? Join us for this eight week study on carious cults masquerading as Christian denominations in our society. in addition to jehovah's Witnesses, we will cover the basic beliefs of Mormonism, Scientology, islam, Freemaonry, Satanism, New Age, and the Propsperity Gospel.

Adult Bible Study: "Great People of the Old Testament" taught by the Elders of Rivercliff. We will delve into the Old Testament for answers to modern day living as we study God's Chosen People and how He directed the course of their history. What a comfort to know, "(God) is the same yesterday and today and forever" based on Hebrews 13:8.
